When an Emergency Happens
When discomfort arises or your orthodontics have become damaged, this could not only lead to painful symptoms, but this could interrupt your treatment progress. You could lose progress, or fail to have your smile properly repositioned in the original time frame. But by contacting us, we can offer repair or replacement to ensure your treatment doesn’t miss a beat. Even if your situation happens outside of normal business hours, be sure to call us. Easing Discomfort
After you call us, you can take steps to ease discomfort until we can see you. For example, if a stray wire is hurting your cheek or gums, use the eraser end of a pencil to push it down and away from your soft tissues. You can coat it in wax to further protect your smile. If a bracket is loose, then wax can help it stay in place. If a bracket falls out, put it in a container and bring it with you. If you have an aligner irritating part of your smile, see if wax can ease this. If one is damaged, then wax can again help protect the gum and cheeks, and you may need to stop wearing it until you can see us. For all of these concerns, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever. If you have headgear that continues to hurt, it could be that you’re wearing it improperly or it needs adjustment, so let us know right away!
