Creating Your Custom Invisalign® Aligners

fort worth invisalign alignersInvisalign® means we offer a cosmetic approach to correcting misalignment in teen and adult smiles. The success of this system can offer straighter smiles while remaining nearly invisible the entire time. In today’s blog, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist talks about how our team can create custom aligners!

When You Qualify for Orthodontic Treatment

Do you have uneven teeth, with crowding, crooked teeth, or overlapping ones? If so, then the health of your smile can suffer, and you may feel uncomfortable with the appearance of your smile. So, if this describes your own smile, or that of your teen, then you should consider an appointment. We will take a close look at your smile to assess the cause and extent of your misalignment and choose the right treatment option. If we decide Invisalign® is right for you or your child, then we will next gather some detailed images.

Getting Started with iTero®

First, we need to make an impression of your smile. We don’t use metal mold and gooey materials to do this, instead we will use a digital system. With iTero®, we will use the digital camera at the end of a thin scanner wand to gather images of your smile from multiple angles. We then combine these for a 3D model of the smile that is accurate and precise. This will allow us to design and fabricate your aligners, ensuring a comfortable fit that gently and gradually shift your teeth into proper positions!

Wearing Your New Aligners

Treatment involves wearing a set of aligners daily for two weeks, usually about 20 to 22 hours per day. The exact time will depend on our recommendations. You repeat this process for about a year to 18 months, depending on how severe your misalignment is. During treatment, you can remove the aligners before you eat to avoid changing your diet, and to also make brushing and flossing your teeth a much simpler process. As long as you wear them as prescribed, you can also take them out before special occasions like graduations, first dates, and job interviews.

If you see us now, you have a chance to use your 2022 dental benefits before they expire, so you can start 2023 on the road toward an even and beautiful smile. If you have any questions, then give us a call today!
