When we think about Invisalign® aligners, we mainly think about smile correction that is clear and practically invisible. But these also have another major benefit, we can offer braces that are removable, which makes them much more convenient for your daily life. In today’s blog, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist talks about the removable aspect of Invisalign®.
Qualifying for Treatment
Interested in orthodontics that are not only clear and comfortable, but that can also be removed with ease? Then we will examine your smile and assess the cause and extent of your misalignment, so we can decide if this is the right choice for you. If so, then our team will use the iTero® system to gather detailed pictures of your smile from multiple angles, captured comfortably with a tiny digital camera at the end of a thin wand. We then combine the images to craft a 3D model, one far more precise than a physical impression. In a lab setting, experts will use this to design and craft your aligners from a BPA-free plastic, ensuring a safe, clear, and comfortable road to an even smile.
The Invisalign® Process
How do we use them to correct your smile’s misalignment? Correcting malocclusion begins with the patient wearing a set for 20 to 23 hours a day, depending on the exact recommendations of your orthodontist. They do this for two weeks, and then start wearing the next set in the series for the same amount of time. Each set help gently reposition and correct the alignment of the smile, so in as little as one year to 18 months teens and adults can achieve an even, healthy, and beautiful smile.
Removable Aligners
You can remove each set before a meal, so you don’t have to worry about sticky or chewy foods being trapped in your smile, or about hard foods damaging orthodontics. For added protection, you can rinse with water or even floss before putting your aligners back in. being removable also makes brushing and flossing much easier too, as you don’t have to work about brackets or wires to thoroughly clean your teeth, limiting the risk of cavities and gum disease during treatment. You can even take them out for a special occasion as long as you’re wearing them as we have prescribed.
