How Propel® Can Shorten Your Treatment Time

fort worth propel orthodonticsOur team offers a number of advanced technologies in the planning process, from iTero® digital imaging to CT scanning technology. But we also have a unique system to lower your overall treatment times. In today’s blog, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist talks the Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics system.

The Lengthy Treatment Period Orthodontics Require

Treating misalignment often takes a major time commitment. As we shift the teeth into the proper positions, we need the jawbone structure to reform around their new positions, as this keeps them in place. If you’re undergoing treatment with metal braces, which we tend to reserve for more serious cases, this could mean up to two years of treatment. If you’re wearing Invisalign® aligners, this could mean a time commitment of between a year and 18 months on average. The exact time of course will depend on the extent of your misalignment, and of course, whether you attend appointments on time and wear them as prescribed by your orthodontist.

The Accelerated Option

Our team could prescribe an option to help lower the time needed to correct the smile, sometimes by as much as 50%. Using Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics, our team will help stimulate the reformation of the bone and periodontal tissues around the new positions of the teeth, reducing the time commitment needed to gain a straighter smile. The Propel® VPRO5 device is a small handheld appliance we send home with you. The device is then worn in your mouth for five minutes each day, these sessions using gentle vibrations to stimulate the growth of bone and periodontal tissues. The mouthpiece is easy to use, clean, and store.

Getting Started

To find out if third option is right for you, we will assess the extent of your orthodontic needs and the amount of time treatment will require. If you have an uneven smile, let us know! We not only help adults, but teens and children as young as age seven. Remember, an even smile is not only more beautiful, but also less likely to develop tooth decay, gum disease, and even factors like TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding). If you have any questions about how this technology works, or if you’re ready to address your malocclusion, then contact our team today.
