fort worth emergency careWhen you have pain from your orthodontics, or if they become damaged, this could cause discomfort and interrupt your treatment progress. Which is why we want to offer emergency care to repair these issues and let you resume your orthodontics process. In today’s blog, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist talks about emergency treatment.

Interruptions to Your Treatment

When you have orthodontics that have become damaged or broken, this could interrupt your treatment process and even cause you to lose some of your progress. Reaching optimal results in the original stated time frame then becomes difficult. Which is why we hope that when you experience discomfort or if something happens to compromise your braces or aligners, you will let us know right away. Even if your issue happens outside of normal business hours, give us a call and we will reach out to you to schedule a visit soon.

Orthodontic Emergency Care

This could include loose or missing brackets, cracked or broken aligners, poor fitting headgear, or damaged retainers or teeth spacers. Our team can address or replace these as needed, and help you continue your treatment without further interruption. Shifting your teeth takes time and commitment, but this can help lower the risk of complications of tooth decay, gum disease, TMJ disorder, and even bruxism (teeth grinding). You also have a more attractive smile; one you feel great to show off to the world. For better oral health and a stunning smile, don’t let anything slow your progress.

Easing Your Discomfort

You can also take immediate steps to ease your discomfort and prevent worsening damage. First, you can always take an over-the-counter pain reliever to ease discomfort. If a wire is causing pain, you can use the eraser end of a pencil to push it down and away from the gums and cheeks. You can then coat it in wax. If a bracket is loose, wax can help it stay in place. If one falls out completely, you can cover the ends of the wire in wax and put the bracket into a container to bring with you. If an aligner is causing pain, you can use wax here again. If headgear is fitting poorly, welt us now and can make adjustments.
