Using Technology To Create Invisalign® Aligners

fort worth invisalign treatmentWe want to help you correct your uneven smile, shifting teeth into proper position with custom orthodontics. For a cosmetic approach, we can use a series of clear Invisalign® aligners. In today’s blog, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist talks about how we use technology to create your custom aligners.

The Invisalign® Treatment Process

How does Invisalign® correct smiles? Well, the patient will receive a series of clear plastic aligners sets. Each set is worn for about two weeks, for 20 to 22 hours a day. This process continues for about a year for adults, or up to 18 months for teens. The aligners will need to be cleaned and soaked, and they will be designed to fit comfortably and offer a clear appearance too. They can be removed before meals, so you don’t have to change how you eat, and being removable makes brushing and flossing much easier. In all, they provide results in a much shorter time frame than braces, and with fewer office visits too.

Creating Custom Aligners

Each set is custom-made and fitted for your smile, which means a comfortable treatment experience and smile construction with precision and accuracy. To begin, we will use the iTero® system to gather images of the smile from multiple angles. To do this, we employ a tiny digital camera at the end of a thin wand, so gathering these images is quick and comfortable. We then combine the images to create a 3D model. The impression enables us to design and craft the aligners in a lab setting. You then start your journey to an even and healthy smile!

Better Oral Health

Treating your misalignment means better overall oral health. For example, you have a lower risk of tooth decay and gum disease as brushing and flossing is much easier, and your balanced bite reduces the risk of TMD and bruxism (chronic teeth grinding). You will be able to smile with confidence and feel great about your appearance. If you want to find out if Invisalign® is right for you, then contact our team to schedule a consultation. We will examine your smile and assess the cause and severity of your misalignment. If you have any additional questions or concerns, then give us a call today to learn more.
