The Invisalign® System
How does Invisalign® correct misalignment? Well, we don’t need to employ metal brackets or wires. Instead, we create a series of plastic aligners, which fit comfortably over the teeth. A set is worn for about 20 to 22 hours a day, over the course of two weeks. You then move on to the next set in the series, as your teeth are carefully and gently repositioned. This could take a year for adults, or about 18 months for teens, but the exact time depends on the extent of your misalignment, and whether you wore your aligners as recommended. They’re easy to clean and care for, and you can even remove them before you eat, so there is no worries about food being stuck in your orthodontics. Being removable also makes brushing and flossing much easier during treatment too.

To custom-make them, we begin by using the iTero® system. A tiny digital camera at the end of a thin wand is used to take detailed pictures of the smile from multiple angles. We then combine them to create a 3D computer impression. This is then used in a dental lab to design and craft the finished product. Being custom-made ensures treatment with precision and accuracy.
