Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics Shorten Treatment Times

fort worth short treatment timesWhen you seek treatment for dental misalignment, you’re taking action to straighten your smile and also improve overall oral health too. But you’re also signing up for a serious time commitment, up to two or more years in some cases. But your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist could also shorten these treatment times with Propel®.

Treatment Options

We have a number of options for people of all ages, from seven and up. But for most teens and adults, we choose between two main options. For more severe cases of uneven teeth, metal braces could be employed to shift them into proper positions. To make these orthodontics less visible, we could use ceramic tooth-colored brackets instead of metal ones. We also have the Invisalign® system, which causes a series of clear plastic aligners instead of brackets and wires, and are practically invisible when worn. These are also removable, which makes mealtime and brushing and flossing much easier!

The Timeframe for Treating Smiles

How long does it take to correct misalignment? About two years on average. Why does it take so long? Well, as the teeth are shifted by orthodontics, the bone tissue has to reform around them to keep them in place. This happens several times throughout the treatment process, and is the main reason correcting misalignment will take as long as two to two-and-a-half years in some cases. Metal brackets take the longest, because we reserve these for more substantial cases of misalignment. Likewise, since Invisalign® treats more minor cases in teen and adult smiles optimal results can take about a year to 18 months on average. But we still have the ability to shorten treatment times for teens and adults with the Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics system.

The Propel® Process

The Propel® system involves the use of a small handheld device each day. The device fits comfortably in your mouth and emits gentle vibrations to stimulate the growth of bone tissue around the new positions of the teeth. The device is then easy to clean and store. This helps reduce treatment times, sometimes cutting them in half! We can help you decide if this is right for you, and let you know what you can expect.
