The Benefits of Fixing Uneven Smiles
Did you know that uneven teeth could provide places for particles from the foods and drinks we enjoy to become trapped? Even if you brush and floss, these could remain stuck for bacteria to reach, which then causes plaque buildup and an increased risk of tooth decay and gum disease! Misalignment also upsets bite balance, so some could be more likely to develop painful complications like TMJ disorder or bruxism (teeth grinding). The Invisalign® Treatment Process
For teens and adults, we could correct many cases of misalignment with a series of clear and comfortable Invisalign aligners, each set custom-made for your smile. This provides clear smile correction, and also offers results in as little as one year. Essentially, we gather a series of detailed digital images of your smile and use them to craft a series of plastic aligners. A set is worn for about 20 to 22 hours a day, for two weeks. You then upgrade to the next set in the series and continue this process until you have an even smile. This is often the preferred option for our patients.
What About Braces?
If you or your child has a more severe case of misalignment, then we could prescribe braces instead of aligners. However, we can still offer a more cosmetic approach. Instead of creating brackets from metal, we use ceramic to create a tooth-colored option. We then connect the arch wire to them with clear bands, so while you have braces, they’re much less visible.
