Treating Your Misalignment Using Imaging Technology

fort worth imaging We use a number of treatments to correct uneven teeth, from retainers and teeth spacers to braces and Invisalign® aligners. But to plan and design these orthodontics and treatments, we need advanced imaging technology. In today’s blog, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist talks about treating smiles using these unique digital scanning systems.

Planning Your Treatment

We offer care for people of all ages, from kids as young as age seven to seniors. Every smile is unique, which means there is no one-size-fits-all approach to orthodontics. Instead, we need to be able to clearly diagnose smiles of all types, and to create orthodontics and appliances that are custom-fitted for these smiles. Instead of relying on visible exams and physical impressions, we can use advanced iTero® digital imaging systems and I-CAT imaging too!

iTero®

The iTero® system is crucial for planning and designing the orthodontics we use to correct your misalignment. We will use a tiny digital camera at the end of a thin wand to take pictures of your smile from multiple angles. This can be done quickly and comfortably. We then combine these images to create a 3D computer impression. There is no need to bite down on a mold and hold it. Instead of physical impressions, we’ve gone digital and now offer care with greater precision and accuracy. We can use these to design and craft retainers and teeth spacers for kids, or tooth-colored ceramic brackets and Invisalign® aligners for teens and adults. We can create unique TMJ appliances to help treat TMJ disorder and bring relief from chronic head and jaw pain.

I-CAT

I-CAT is a computerized tomography system that employs a customized field of view to capture broad images of your entire smile, jaw, and skull. We can gather these images in a short time frame, and they can be used to help us diagnose and examine your entire smile as a whole. We can make a more accurate diagnosis, and in addition, better plan your treatment. If you have any questions about how we use these technologies as part of your treatment process, or if you would like to schedule a consultation for you or a member of your family, then contact our team today to learn more! We want to help you feel proud to smile.
