To offer our patients smile improvement with precision and accuracy, we often implement the latest technology. In fact, some of these technologies could even shorten your overall treatment time! In today’s blog, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist talks about how we correct your smile with digital imaging and more.
No Need for Physical Impressions
To create aligners, appliances, and orthodontics in the past, the orthodontist will have you bite down on a metal tray filled with a sticky and poor-tasting material. You would have flavor options, but it wouldn’t matter, the only flavor is chalk. You would have to hold this bite for several minutes, and if the resulting mold had imperfections the process would need to be repeated. Fortunately, we haven’t dealt with these in a long time, as we embraced a digital alternative. With iTero®, we will use a tiny camera at the end of a thin wand to take a series of pictures from multiple angles quickly and comfortably. We then combine the images to create 3D computer impressions instead of a physical one. We then design and craft your treatment options with precision and accuracy, no need for trays and poor-tasting goop!
Shortening Your Treatment Time
Correcting your misalignment can be a time-consuming venture, as shifting the teeth means the gum and bone tissues need to reform around the new positions., For this reason, braces could take two years, and aligners a year to 18 months. However, with Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics, we could help shorten this time or even cut it in half for some patients. Essentially, at home you will wear a small device in your mouth. The device is simple to use and easy to clean and store. The machine then emits gentle vibrations that stimulate the growth of bone tissue around the roots, so you enjoy a shortened treatment time.
I-Cat Imaging
When you or a family member see us for treatment, we want to offer a diagnosis and treatment planning with precision and accuracy. With I-CAT, we use computerized tomography technology to gather detailed images of your teeth, roots, jaw, and oral structures, better understanding the factors behind your smile so we can provide optimal care. We can see your smile as a whole! If you have any questions about the technology we use as part of your treatment or about our solutions for patients of all ages, then contact our team today to learn more.
