When you have misalignment, this could lead to poor oral health and issues with your smile’s appearance. To treat this, we could opt for a cosmetic option that is completely clear, known as Invisalign®. In today’s blog, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist discusses this system, and how to start this process.
Starting Treatment Now
The end of the year is right around the corner, and the hectic holiday season is even closer. Which means now is a great time to start the treatment process. You can use any remaining dental insurance benefits or health savings funds before they expire on December 31st. In addition, we can start treatment now and continue it through 2022. For many adults, the Invisalign® system offers optimal results in as little as one year. Teens may need up to 18 months. But with Accelerated Orthodontics, we can help cut treatment times in half for qualifying treatments, using a special technology to encourage the growth of bone tissue around the new positions of your teeth.
The Invisalign® System
Now let’s talk about the Invisalign® system. Using the iTero® digital scanning system, we will gather detailed images of your smile, combining them to create a 3D computer impression. At a special lab, the aligners will be designed and crafted based on these images. You then begin to wear a set of clear and practically invisible plastic aligners daily. Every two weeks, you will move on to the next set in the series, as your smile is gradually and carefully repositioned and corrected. You can remove them before meals or prior to brushing and flossing, and as long as you wear them for the amount of time we prescribe, taking them out for special occasions is possible too. They provide a comfortable, removable, and barely noticeable solution to dental misalignment for teens and adults.
Benefits for Your Smile
Correcting your smile offers a number of benefits for your oral health. For example, you’re less likely to develop tooth decay and gum disease, and the lack of pressure on your jaw joints means a reduced risk of TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding). You also feel more confident when you smile, and can make a great first impression!
