If you have braces or aligners, this could help shift your teeth and correct minor or major misalignment. You enjoy a more attractive smile, and a healthier one too. But did you know the braces themselves could be cosmetic? In today’s blog, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist talks about how we offer cosmetic solutions to uneven teeth.
The Value of Straightening Your Smile
When you have even teeth, this could help preserve the balance of your bite. Which means you have a lowered risk of jaw joint complications like TMJ disorder and teeth grinding (bruxism). An even smile also means brushing and flossing is much simpler, so the chances of tooth decay and gum disease developing is reduced. You may also simply feel more confident when you smile, which helps you make a great impression! If you have an uneven smile, whether minor or severe, then we can help with a cosmetic approach.
Cosmetic Braces
Braces allow us to address more severe cases of uneven teeth. The process involves affixing brackets to the front of each tooth. For each arch, a section of a thin arch wire is then connected to the brackets with a band. To shift the teeth and correct misalignment, the orthodontist then adjusts tension in the wire to begin moving the teeth. The process could take up to two years, and help teens and adults enjoy more even smiles. However, to make them less visible, we could use ceramic to create the brackets instead of metal. Ceramic is durable and can be color-matched to blend with your smile. That’s why dentists often use them to create crowns, bridges, and even implant restorations. We also connect them with a clear band. The result is braces that are much less noticeable.
Invisalign® Aligners
We could also offer a nearly invisible option for teens and adults too! Invisalign® involves wearing a series of clear aligners to correct the position of the teeth, with optimal results available in as little as one year in some cases. These can also be removable to make eating, brushing, and flossing easier too. If you have any questions about either of these cosmetic orthodontist options, or if you would like a consultation to see which is right for you, then contact our team today to learn more.
