Cosmetic Treatment With Invisalign®

fort worth invisalignInvisalign® offers our patients a cosmetic approach to orthodontic treatment. Instead of braces, we can correct smiles for our teen and adult patients with a series of clear aligners. In today’s blog, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist talks about how we treat misalignment with these aligners, and how each set is custom-made for your smile.

Consider Treating Your Misalignment

When you have an uneven smile, this could provide places for particles from your foods and drinks to become stuck. Even if you brush and floss, you could fail to reach them, leaving them behind to increase the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Misalignment also alters the balance of your bite and could strain your jaw joints. You’re then more likely to develop issues like TMJ disorder and bruxism (chronic teeth grinding). Finally, you could simply feel uncomfortable with the appearance of your smile, which impacts your confidence levels. By treating your uneven smile, you boost your oral health!

Qualifying for Invisalign®

Is Invisalign® right for everyone? The procedure can be used to treat smiles in the teen years and adulthood. We will carefully examine your smile with CT scanning and iTero® digital imaging technology, so we can assess the cause and extent of your misalignment. We then decide if clear braces are the right choice for you, or if you will need a different route to a straighter smile. If we move forward with Invisalign®, then we will use the images we gathered to help design and craft these aligners from a BPA-free plastic material. Every set of clear plastic aligners will be custom-fitted for your smile!

Clear Aligner Treatment

How do we use these invisible braces to address your uneven teeth? Well, a set is worn for 20 to 22 hours per day, over a period of at least two weeks. You then move on to the next set in the series. You repeat this process as the aligners begin to shift the teeth and correct misalignment. For adults, optimal results are possible in as little as one year, while teens may need up to 18 months.
