More Discreet Braces With Ceramic

fort worth clear bracesWhen you need braces to fix your misalignment, you may not be excited about this prospect. But what if we have an option that was less noticeable? For many of our teen and adult patients, we could use tooth-colored brackets to make your orthodontics almost invisible! In today’s blog, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist talks about our discreet braces.

Using Braces to Fix Uneven Teeth

How do braces actually correct misalignment? First, we need to take a close look at your smile, and we will use digital x-rays, I-CAT imaging systems, and even the iTero® system to capture detailed images of your teeth, roots, and oral structures. From there, we can assess the causes and severity of your misalignment and plan your treatment. Brackets will be attached to the front of each tooth. A thin arch wire is then attached to the brackets with a band. When you see us for an appointment, we will adjust the tension in the wire to begin moving the teeth into proper position. The process could take about two years, and can address even severe misalignment.

Ceramic Brackets

Usually, the brackets we mentioned are made from metal, making them pretty obvious in appearance. However, our team could use the iTero® system to design and craft them from ceramic. A metal-free material, this is often used by dentists to craft lifelike crowns and bridges. The ceramic material is translucent like enamel, and we can shade it to better blend with your smile. The arch wire is then connected to these ceramic brackets with a clear band. The result is a set of orthodontics that are barely noticeable!

Benefits for Your Smile

A straighter smile is one that is much easier to thoroughly brush and floss. As a result, the risk of tooth decay and gum disease is reduced significantly. An even smile also prevents bite imbalance and prevents strain on the jaw joints too. As a result, you’re less likely to develop disorders like TMD or chronic teeth grinding (bruxism). Finally, your smile will be more attractive too, so you’re happier with your appearance and eager to show off your smile.
