The Treatment Process

Let’s first take a look at how we use aligners to correct misalignment instead of traditional braces. First, you will receive a set of multiple aligners, each one crafted from a clear plastic material. A set is then worn for about 20 to 22 hours a day. You wear them daily for about two weeks, then move on to the next set in the series. This process continues until your smile obtains optimal results. For teens and those with more severe misalignment this could be about 18 months. For many, this could be possible in as little as one year. However, you must wear them as the orthodontist recommends.

Correcting your misalignment means you can smile with confidence and feel good about first impressions. In addition, even smiles are easier to clean when you brush and floss, so the risk of tooth decay and gum disease is decreased substantially. Other benefits include a comfortable fit, as each set is made for your smile in particular, and a barely noticeable appearance. You can also remove them before you eat or before brushing and flossing, which makes daily life easier than it would be if you had braces. You also require fewer office visits on average!

Creating These Aligners

Now, how do we create these orthodontics? First, we take a series of detailed digital images with the iTero® system, which uses a small camera at the end of a thin wand. After we take these images, we combine them to create a 3D computer model. In a lab setting, the model is used to design and fabricate a series of aligner sets. Each one is custom-fitted for your smile, offering care with precision and accuracy.
