When you think about metal braces, you probably picture unsightly metal and very obvious orthodontics. However, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist could provide a more cosmetic option. With tooth-colored brackets made from ceramic, we can use braces to correct major misalignment while keeping these braces much less noticeable.
How Braces Treat Uneven Smiles
How do braces help correct your smile? We begin by placing a bracket onto the front of each tooth. We then take an arch wire, and connect a portion of the wire to each bracket using a band. During regular visits to the office, we will adjust the tension in this arch wire to begin shifting the teeth into proper position. The jawbone then regrows around the new position of the teeth to secure the smile. Treatment takes about two years to complete, although with the Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics system, our team could cut that time in half for some patients, using a small device and gentle vibrations to encourage the growth of the bone tissue.
Tooth-Colored Ceramic Brackets
Usually, the brackets will be made from metal. But for a more cosmetic approach, our team could craft them from ceramic. A strong and durable material, it is translucent like tooth enamel and can be color-matched to blend with the rest of your tooth. In fact, general dentists use the same material to create crowns and replacement teeth for this reason. We will design and craft them with the detailed digital images gathered with the iTero® scanning system. Using digital molds instead of physical ones saves time, prevents you from biting down on molds, and offers greater precision and accuracy.
