A Faster Approach To Straighter Smiles

fort worth propelCorrecting your misalignment is a great way to not only improve your oral health, but to boost the beauty of your smile too. However, the road there involves aligners or braces, and could take quite a bit of time. However, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist could use advanced technology to significantly reduce the time it takes for your smile to become straightened!

The Usual Treatment Time

The exact time taken to correct your smile will vary, depending on factors like the severity of your misalignment, and whether you wear aligners as expected or attend visits for adjustments as the orthodontist prescribes. However, with braces you should expect at least two years on average, while Invisalign® could require wearing the aligners sets for a year to 18 months. As you can see, this requires a major treatment time. But the results are not only a more attractive smile, but a healthier one too, one less likely to be impacted by cavities, gum disease, and even jaw joint disorders like TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding.)

The Accelerated Process

How do we shorten this process? The reason these treatments take so long is because each time we move the teeth, the jawbone must reform around these new positions to keep your teeth in place. Over time, this leads to months and years required for the smile to adapt to the new positions of the teeth. However, we could help lower treatment times with the Propel® system. We will provide you with a small decide that you bring home with you and place in your mouth for five minutes each day. The device then emits gentle vibrations that stimulate the growth of one and gum tissue around the teeth. For some, this could shorten procedure by months, or even cut treatment times in half. We can examine your smile to see if this is the right choice for you!

Other Tips for Treatment Times

If you have aligners, be sure you remove them for cleaning and soaking as instructed, but continue to wear them for 20 to 22 hours a day. If you have braces, continue to arrive at regularly scheduled visits for the orthodontics to adjust tension in the arch wires.  If your aligners or brace are damaged, let us know right away, so we can repair them and prevent pauses in your progress.
