If you wear braces, treatment could take two or more years, and clear Invisalign® aligners may need a year, or possibly up to 18 months. However, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist knows how to severely limit the time necessary to correct your uneven teeth. In today’s blog, we’re going to talk about the Propel® Accelerated Orthodontic system.
The Reasons Orthodontic Care Takes Time
Each time your braces or aligners shift the teeth, the jawbone and gums must reform around the new positions. This process takes time, and as a result, completing your treatment with braces or aligners will take time too. For example, braces could require two to two-and-a-half years to see optimal results. Clear aligners could take anywhere between one year and up to 18 months. However, we could use advanced technology to reduce the time, cutting it in half in some situations!
The Propel® Accelerated Process
Using this unique system, our team has the ability to stimulate the growth of bone tissue and periodontal tissue around the new positions of the teeth throughout the process. We start by sending you home with the Propel® VPRO5 device, which is a hand-held, easy to use, clean, and store. The machine is worn in your mouth for about five minutes a day. The device then employs gentle vibrations to encourage the growth of bone and gums around the new positions of each tooth. Which means even severe cases of misalignment could see optimal results in as little as a year to 18 months, whether you use braces or aligners to correct misalignment.
Common Treatment Options
Now that you know how the Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics system works, how does each of our orthodontic systems work? For most teens and adults, we will likely choose between metal braces or clear Invisalign® aligners. Braces address more severe cases of misalignment, but we can use ceramic brackets to make them much less visible. With Invisalign®, we use clear and comfortable aligners to shift the teeth and correct misalignment, all while staying completely invisible.
