Crooked, crowded, and overlapping teeth could mean serious issues for the health and function of your smile, not to mention your esthetics. To correct the position of your teeth, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist may suggest braces or possibly Invisalign® aligners. While treatment takes a significant time commitment, we can help reduce the time with Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics.
The Average Times Braces and Aligners Will Require
For teens and adults, we have two main options to correct uneven teeth. With braces, we use brackets and wires to shift the positions of the teeth and tackle more severe cases of misalignment. To make them less visible, we could create brackets from ceramic and color-match them to blend with the smile. We also have the Invisalign® system, which uses clear plastic aligners instead of metal braces for a nearly invisible route to a straighter smile. With braces, the treatment time could take two years on average. Invisalign® often needs a year for adults, while teens could require up to 18 months. A short amount of time for a lifetime of perfect smiles, but still a serious time commitment!
The Propel® Process
The reason the process takes so long is because with each shift in a tooth’s position, the jawbone tissues and gums must reform around them, this keeps them in place and makes your results last. If we could speed up this process, the overall time would be shorter. With the Propel® system, we can! Basically, we will send you home with a small, handheld device that you place in your mouth for five minutes a day. The device employs gentle vibrations to stimulate the growth of the bone tissue and reduce overall treatment times. The device is then easily to handle, clean, and store.
Starting Your Treatment
If you have crooked, crowded, or overlapping teeth, let us know! With a consultation, we employ advanced digital imaging technology to assess the cause and extent of your misalignment. From there, we can choose the best treatment option to correct your teeth. We could use tooth-colored ceramic brackets as part of the braces, or clear aligners. We even have treatments for children to reduce the severity of misalignment until they can wear braces or aligners in their teens. If you have any questions about starting treatment, or about how we reduce the overall time commitment, then please contact our team today.
