The Invisalign® Process
How do we correct smiles with the Invisalign® system? First, we will examine your smile to carefully assess the cause and extent of your misalignment, deciding if clear aligners are the best choice for you. If so, then we next take detailed digital images, which we combine to create a 3D model of the smile. Instead of physical impressions, we use these digital ones to design and craft the aligners with great precision and accuracy. Each set is created in a lab, and when ready, you start treatment. You will wear a set for about 20 to 22 hours, depending on the recommendations of your orthodontist, for about two weeks. Then you move on to the next set in the series. Throughout the process, your teeth will be gradually and gently be repositioned in your smile.

The amount of time the process takes will depend on a number of factors, from the severity of your misalignment to whether you wore them as prescribed. However, on average, adults see optimal results in as little as a year, compared to braces, which usually need up to ten years. Teens, who have smiles still growing and developing, may need to wear them for up to 18 months. To help reduce the treatment time, wed could also suggest the Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics system. A small device is worn in the mouth for about five minutes a day, and uses gentle vibrations encourage the growth of jawbone tissue around the new positions of the teeth. Over time, this shortens how long you need aligners. Then device is easy to use, clean, and store.
