The Invisalign® Treatment Process
How do these aligners correct your misalignment? Well, a set of them is worn every day for 20 to 22 hours. They fit snugly over the teeth, and will be worn for about two weeks. At that point, you move on to the next set in the series. With each set your smile is gradually and gently repositioned, correcting minor and even more severe cases of misalignment. The process takes about a year for adults and up to 18 months for teens, the exact time of course depends on the cause and extent of your misalignment, and if you wore them as we prescribed.
Creating Custom Aligners
The key to optimal results, a comfortable treatment period, and an invisible appearance is the custom nature of each set. To start, we will examine your smile to assess the factors behind your alignment issues. From there, we will take detailed images with the iTero® digital scanning system. We combine these images on a computer to create a 3D digital impression. The 3D impression then enables us to design and fabricate them with precision and accuracy. Each set in the series of custom-made, fitting comfortably, preventing gum and cheek irritation, and of course, offering a practically invisible appearance.
When to Remove Your Orthodontics
One major benefit of your Invisalign® treatment? You can actually remove the aligners! No worries about food becoming stuck between them, instead we take them out before each meal and place them back in afterward. The same goes for brushing and flossing, as you don’t have to work around metal braces. Instead, caring for your smile is a simple as ever. Finally, as long as you wear them for the amount of time prescribed, you can take them out for special occasions, such as a job interview, graduation, or a first date.
