The Material We Use
What material is used to create these aligners? We use a special acrylic material that is BPA-free and clear, so they’re barely visible when in place. Being made from this plastic not only makes them nearly invisible, but also ensures a comfortable fit, limiting the risk of cheek and gum irritation. We may use this option to help teens and adults alike with minor or more advanced cases of misalignment.
Creating Each Set
To create them, we first need to examine your smile and assess the cause and extent of your misalignment. If we decide that clear braces are the best route to take, we will gather a series of detailed images with iTero® digital scanning technology. We combine the images to create a 3D model, no need to bite down on a mold filled with sticky material, we’ve moved on to digital impressions! Each set in the series is designed and crafted based on these detailed digital images we gather.
The Treatment Process
Once the aligners are ready, you begin the treatment process. Each set is worn in the mouth, fitting snugly over the teeth, for about 20 to 22 hours per day. After about two weeks, the patient moves on to the next set in the series, and this process continues for about a year to 18 months, depending on the severity of your alignment issues. You will see us occasionally so we can monitor your progress and ensure you’re seeing optimal results. They can be removed occasionally for brushing and flossing and meals, or for special occasions. Over time, they gently and carefully reposition your teeth to help you enjoy a stunning and even smile!
