An even smile is a great way to protect your smile from major complications, which could include cavities and gum disease, as well as TMJ disorder and even chronic teeth grinding. However, the orthodontic treatment, whether you use aligners or braces, could take a significant amount of time. Fortunately, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist has options to propel your treatment forward!
The Propel® System
With Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics, we use advanced technology to help limit how long treatment lasts. The lengthy time required to correct uneven teeth is due to the fact that the jawbone issue and gums must reform around the new positions of the teeth, which is a time-consuming process. However, with Propel® we have a way to stimulate the growth of tissues and reduce the amount of time this process takes. We send the patient come with a small device, one that is easy to clean and store. Each day for about five minutes, the device will be worn in the mouth, and gently vibrations will help stimulate the growth of tissues.
How Long Would Treatment Take Otherwise?
We often recommend braces for people with more severe cases of misalignment, so people wearing them may need to continue treatment for up to two years. We may prescribe Invisalign® for more minor cases, so teens and adults can see optimal results in about a year or up to 18 months. However, the exact time will of course depend on a number of factors, including the severity of your misalignment, whether you wear your orthodontics as prescribed, and how often you attend regular checkup visits with your orthodontist.
Which Orthodontic System is For Me?
We have a number of options available for our patients. For young children, teeth spacers and retainers offer a method of limiting the severity of misalignment until the child reaches the teen years and needs more substantial treatment. For teens and adults, we may opt for braces, using ceramic brackets to limit their visibility. We also offer clear aligners with the Invisalign® system. The option chosen will depend the cause and extent of your misalignment. If you have any questions about how we shorten treatment times, or about the options we provide to correct uneven teeth, then contact our team today. We want to help families in our community enjoy healthier smiles.
