Did You Know Orthodontics Can Be Cosmetic?

cosmetic orthodonticsWhen we think about braces, and correcting misalignment, we rarely imagine a cosmetic treatment. However, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist wants to ensure you don’t feel embarrassed during treatment, so we offer a cosmetic alternative to traditional treatment options. In today’s blog, find out how we provide nearly invisible solutions to misalignment.

The Benefits of Orthodontics

When people have uneven teeth, whether minor or severe, this could have a major impact on overall oral health. For example, misalignment alone has been linked to higher risks of tooth decay, gum disease, bad breath, TMJ disorder, and even chronic teeth grinding. However, by correcting poor alignment, you reduce the risk of these complications by making routine care easier. You also help boost your own confidence in your smile, as this process also improves smile beauty too!

Cosmetic Braces

For people with more severe cases of misalignment, we recommend braces. Now, while effective, metal braces will impact the appearance of your smile. However, to limit this, we create ceramic brackets. The brackets are what we attach to the front of the teeth, and what we connect an arch wire too. Usually, they’re made from metal, but by using ceramic with a durable and esthetically pleasing alternative, limiting the visibly of your orthodontics. We also have advanced technology to help reduce how long you have to wear them. With Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics you use a small hand held device for five minutes a day to helps stimulate the growth of jawbone and gum tissue around the tooth, which cuts down on how long you need to undergo treatment, sometimes by a significant amount.

Clear Aligners

We also have a completely clear treatment option with Invisalign® aligners. Instead of brackets and wires, we simply create a series of aligners that fit snugly over the teeth. Created from clear plastic, they offer a comfortable fit and a barely noticeable appearance. You wear a set for about 22 hours each day, and then upgrade to the next in the series after about two weeks. The total treatment time will vary, but if worn correctly, usually falls at about a year for adults and 18 months for teens. If you have any questions about our clear braces, then contact our team today. We can examine your smile to see if cosmetic orthodontics are right for your smile.
