When you start your journey to a straighter smile, you will likely find that correcting your poor alignment takes a serious time commitment. However, to help limit the amount of time you must wear braces or use clear aligners, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist can implement a unique technology with the Propel® Accelerated Orthodontic System.
How Long Does Correcting Poor Alignment Take?
The amount of time your treatment takes will depend on a number of factors. For example, for teens with smiles still growing and developing, then 18 months to 2 or more years could be necessary to see optimal results. Adults could see results in as little as a year, or up to 18 months. However, if there is significant misalignment, then of course treatment could take a bit longer. Often, the lengthy amount of time is necessary to give the jawbone tissue and gums the time needed to reform around the new position of the teeth throughout the treatment process. Which is why Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics help hurry the process along!
The Propel® Accelerated Orthodontic System
With this system, we send a small device home with you. You wear it like a mouthguard, and the device uses gentle vibrations to stimulate the growth of jawbone and gum tissues, allowing them to reform around the new tooth’s positions much faster and shortening overall treatment time. The device is used for about five minutes a day, and is easy to clean and store. Whether you’re wearing metal braces or clear aligners, this option helps you enjoy optimal results in a much shorter overall timeframe.
Which Option is Right for Me?
The orthodontics we do recommend will depend on the cause and extent of your misalignment, as well as your age and overall preferences. Many prefer Invisalign®, as the teeth will be corrected with clear appliances that are barely visible. However, should you require metal braces, then we can create the brackets affixed to the front teeth from ceramic, which allows them to blend with your smile and limit the appearance of your braces. For younger children, we also suggest custom-made restorations or even teeth spacers.
