Invisalign® Offers Clear Braces

invisalign alignersWith the Invisalign® system, your Fort Worth, TX, orthodontist uses clear and comfortable aligners to help correct misalignment. For teens and adults, this is often a preferable alternative to traditional metal braces. In today’s blog, we’re going to look at how we treat poor alignment with these aligners, and the benefits of an even smile.

The Benefits of Fixing Uneven Teeth

Did you know that correcting your misalignment could help improve your oral health? For many, even brushing and flossing daily could fail to dislodge food particles caught between teeth, as misalignment provides hard-to-reach hiding places. Over time, as bacteria break down these particles, the risk of tooth decay and gum disease elevates. For others, poor alignment could place pressure on the jaw joints and lead to a higher risk of issues like TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding). Finally, fixing your poor alignment means improving your smile beauty, which often boosts confidence!

Creating the Custom Aligners

The system doesn’t require metal brackets or wires, instead we use a series of clear and custom-made plastic aligners. Created from BPA-free acrylic, each set is created specifically for your smile. We start by using the iTero® system to capture a series of digital images quickly and conveniently. We then combine them to create a detailed 3D model, allowing us to design the aligners with accuracy and precision. Treatment then starts as soon as your aligners are ready!

The Invisalign® System

You will wear a set every day for about 20 to 22 hours, and upgrade to the next set in the series after about two weeks. Over the course of a year to 18 months, depending on the cause and extent of your misalignment, your teeth will be gently shifted into optimal positions. During treatment, you can remove them before meals, so you don’t have to worry about avoiding foods that would otherwise become trapped in braces. Being removable also makes brushing and flossing during treatment easier, as you don’t have to work around brackets and wires. If you have any questions about treating uneven teeth with a series of barely noticeable and comfortable braces, then contact our team today. We help teen and adult patients alike with this clear braces system, so you obtain a more even and healthy smile without major impacts on your appearance during the treatment.
