Discreet Orthodontic Treatment With Ceramic Brackets

braces with tooth-colored bracketsOur last blog focused on how we correct smiles with a series of clear aligners. However, some people may still need to undergo orthodontic care with braces. In order to provide teens and adults in Fort Worth, TX, with a more discreet alternative to metal braces, we could correct smiles using tooth-colored brackets made from strong and lifelike ceramic.

The Importance of Treating Poor Alignment

Addressing your poor alignment is about much more than just improving the beauty of your smile (although that is an important factor, too). Over time, uneven teeth could make brushing and flossing difficult, providing hiding places for food particles to remain stuck and out of reach of toothbrush bristles and floss. Over time, this means a higher risk of tooth decay and gum disease! If you have pressure on your jaw joints and poor bite balance due to misalignment this could also lead to painful jaw joint disorders like TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding). When we correct the position of our teeth, we improve our overall oral health, which is why we offer care for kids, teens, and adults.

Our Tooth-Colored Ceramic Brackets

Often, metal braces help correct misalignment for people with more substantial cases. Typically, this involves placing metal brackets onto the front-facing sides of the teeth. A band is then used to attach the arch wires to each bracket. During periodic visits, tension in the wire will be adjusted to reposition the teeth. While effective, these are also very visible, making them unpopular with teens and adults. However! We have an option to limit their appearance. Instead of using metal for the brackets, we create them from ceramic. Using digital scanning technology, we ensure the ceramic brackets blend with the color of your teeth, so only the thin arch wire is visible. Your new braces are barely visible, and you enjoy a more attractive road to an even smile.

Caring for Your Smile

As you wear your orthodontics, you need to continue to brush and floss. Be sure you brush around your braces and run floss through them to move up and down each side of each tooth, and dip below the gum line to remove all trapped food particles. Care is especially important since food particles could become stuck in them. If you have any questions, then contact our team today.
