What Exactly Are Cosmetic Orthodontics?

When we help correct smiles in Fort Worth, TX, we use a number of options. When possible, we always strive to offer cosmetic options that limit the appearance of orthodontics and help improve the health and beauty of the teeth. In today’s blog, we’re going to look at our cosmetic treatment options, and also discuss the orthodontic emergency treatments we currently offer. Remember, even though we’re limited to emergency treatments at the moment, we’re always here to answer your questions!

Invisalign® and Ceramic Brackets

The most popular option available is Invisalign®, which costs the same as braces but doesn’t use metal at all! Instead, we take detailed impressions of your smile using advanced digital technology, creating an 3D computer model that allows us to design a series of aligners with precision and accuracy. Patients then wear a set of aligners each day for 20 to 22 hours. Every two weeks, they move on to the next set in the series, with optimal results available in about a year. You can also remove them before meals or prior to brushing and flossing your teeth!

If you do require metal braces to correct smiles, we have an option to limit their visibility. Instead of using metal brackets on the front facing sides of your teeth, we create them using ceramic. Dentists use this same material to craft crowns that blend with the smile, so these brackets are nearly invisible, and that means the only metal portion of your braces is the thin arch wire. This is preferred for many of our teen and adult patients in need of braces.

Orthodontic Emergencies

If you already have orthodontics, and you encounter an emergency situation, remember that you can schedule an appointment to see us! For example, if an aligner becomes cracked, let us know. If your braces have a band or bracket that comes loose or falls out, or if a wire is loose and causing discomfort, we can correct these concerns and protect your smile. We’re also available for issues regarding discomfort or poor-fitting headgear. When you come to our office, we will make sure you have the waiting room to yourself, and that all commonly touched surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected in between each patient visit. We want to protect the health and safety of our patients! If you have any questions, then contact our team today.
