Let’s Learn About The Invisalign® System

Although we’re currently closed outside of emergency treatment options, our team can’t wait for our doors to open so we can begin correcting smiles in Fort Worth, TX, again. We often offer a unique solution to poor alignment with a series of clear aligners. In today’s blog, we’re going to talk about the Invisalign® system!

Clear Aligners vs. Braces

While effective, braces require the placement of brackets to the front-facing sides of the teeth, which we connect with an arch wire. The orthodontics are more visible, and this is often less than ideal for our teen and adult patients. However, Invisalign® doesn’t need brackets or arch wires at all. Instead, we create a series of aligners, which fit over the teeth and are made from a clear plastic material. The aligner are worn daily for about 20 to 22 hours on average. About once every two weeks, the patients move on to the next set in the series as the teeth are gradually shifted into their new positions. People enjoy this option, as the aligners are clear, comfortable, and can even be removed before meals! Treatment times are often shorter as well, and the costs is comparable to regular braces.

Creating Your Custom Orthodontics

To ensure treatment with precision and accuracy, and a comfortable fit, each set is custom-made for your smile. To accomplish this, we use iTero® digital scanning technology to gather detailed images of your teeth quickly and comfortably. We then combine the images to create a 3D model, which allows us to design your new appliances. No need to bite down on a sticky material and create traditional molds!

Addressing Emergency Situations

Of course, at the moment we cannot help you start treatment. But! When we can safely open our doors again, we would love to help you obtain a more even and healthy smile with clear orthodontic options. In the meantime, if you already wear braces or aligners and you endure an orthodontic emergency, we can still offer treatment. Common scenarios include broken aligners, loose or lost brackets and bands, loose wires, poor-fitting headgear, or discomfort that doesn’t pass after a few hours. When you arrive at our office, we make sure you don’t share the waiting room, and our team also cleans and disinfects surfaces throughout the office in between each visit.

We would like to help you start your journey to a straighter smile as soon as we’re able.
