The iTero® Digital System
To ensure a proper fit, we’re not going to use old school impression. No biting down on a mold filled with a gross, sticky material. Not only are they less than accurate, but patients would often need to redo them over and over to obtain a proper impression. Instead, we will use digital technology. A small digital camera at the end of a thin wand is used to gather a series of images quickly and conveniently. We combine these images to create a 3D model of your smile. The model enables our team to then design and craft your aligners with optimal accuracy.
Using Your Invisible Braces
After we design and craft your aligners, you begin treatment by wearing a set for 20 to 22 hours every day over a period of about two weeks. After this point, you upgrade to the next set in the series. As you move from aligner to aligner, your smile is gradually and gently corrected. You enjoy better alignment and improved overall health as well, reducing your risk of tooth decay and gum disease, TMJ disease and bruxism, and other complications related to misalignment.
The Treatment Process
The total treatment process will vary, but if you wear them as prescribed this usually takes about a year for adults or up to 18 months for teens. You of course can remove them before you eat or prior to brushing and flossing, which reduce complications in your day-to-day life, allowing you to eat your favorite foods and helping reduce the risk of teeth stains, cavities, and gum disease as your smile is corrected.
