We provide care for patients of all ages in Fort Worth, TX, helping them enjoy more even smiles with a variety of orthodontic treatment options. For children, we take special steps to ensure they feel comfortable and enjoy their time in the office. In today’s blog, we’re going to look at our Kids’ Space and discuss some of the treatment options we offer our youngest patients.
Our Kids Space
We want kids to feel comfortable and welcome when they visit us for treatment or a consultation, which is why we have a fully-stocked game room with a X-Box and several games available to play. Our staff is also present to address any questions or concerns they may have about braces, retainers, or aligners. We also take this time to talk to your children about good oral hygiene and the steps they can take to keep their teeth healthy and bright.
When to Schedule a Visit
We suggest a routine visit before the permanent teeth have completely arrived, usually around age seven. We offer a free children’s consultation, during which we take digital x-rays and gathered detailed information about the state of your child’s alignment and oral health. From there, we can decide if treatment will be necessary and if so, we can create a personalized plan employing interceptive orthodontics to begin repositioning uneven teeth and guiding the eruption of the permanent teeth, helping your little one obtain a straighter and healthier smile.
The Benefits of Phased Treatment
Poor dental alignment has been linked to higher risks of tooth decay, gum disease, TMJ disorder, and teeth grinding, not to mention the impacts on a person’s appearance. With childhood treatment, we reduce the severity of poor alignment and help guide the still-erupting permanent teeth. This means when your child reaches the teen years, the amount of time he or she will need to wear braces is diminished significantly. Interceptive orthodontics, also known as phased orthodontics, may include the use of retainers, teeth spacers, braces, or even aligners to address bite imbalance and crooked or crowded teeth. We then begin planning what treatment will be needed in the teen years, offering a straighter smile before your little one becomes an adult.
