Should You Try Accelerated Orthodontics?

For patients with metal braces, often a significant time commitment is necessary to see optimal results. Some people may need to wear their braces for up to 24 months. However, to help limit the amount of time Fort Worth, TX, residents will need braces, we offer an accelerated option with the Propel® system. How does this system help speed up the process without impacting results?

The Benefits or Orthodontic Treatment

Obviously, treating your smile’s alignment offers cosmetic benefits. You can obtain a straighter smile, one that is not crooked or crowded. You can smile with confidence in pictures or when out with friends. In addition, orthodontic treatment also helps improve the overall health of your smile as well. For example, did you know that crooked and crowded teeth often provide hiding places for food particles to become trapped? Even brushing and flossing may fail to dislodge these particles, leaving them for bacteria to break down. The result is often a higher risk of bad breath, tooth decay, and gum disease. For others, poor alignment places serious pressure on the jaw joints, boosting the risk of TMJ disorder and bruxism, jaw joint disorders linked to headaches, jaw pain, and even damaged teeth.

The Propel® System

Moving teeth into optimal positions requires more than just, well, moving the teeth. The gum tissue and the bone tissue need to adjust to the new positions as well, which is critical for keeping your smile in proper alignment. For many, this is the part that requires up to two years for orthodontic treatment. However, to help hasten this process, we may employ the Propel® system. Th treatment uses advanced technology to actually stimulate the growth of bone tissue around our newly repositioned teeth, a process that helps them stay in proper alignment quicker. We also have an option patients can use at home. The Propel® VPRO5 is a small device you hold in our mouth for about five minutes each day. The mouthpiece is easy to use, as well as clean and maintain. The device employs gentle vibrations to help stimulate the growth of jawbone tissue and correct the alignment of the smile. If you have any questions about these treatment options, or about correcting uneven teeth in general, then contact our team today. We would love to help you obtain a straighter smile!
