Braces don’t have necessarily have to stand out. To help our Fort Worth, TX, patients enjoy more discreet smile correction, we offer a number of different options, including clear aligners and tooth-colored brackets. In today’s blog, we’re going to look at these two options and explain how they limit the visibility of orthodontics.
Invisalign® Aligners
With the Invisalign® system, we take detailed impressions, measurements, and digital images of your smile. We use the images and information gathered to created a detailed 3D model of your smile, which helps us craft a series of custom aligners from a BPA-free acrylic material. When worn daily, each set begins to reposition the teeth and address poor alignment. Our patients then move on to the next set every two weeks, with total treatment taking about a year to complete. The aligners can be removed before meals, prior to brushing and flossing, and for special occasions. We may suggest this for both teens and adults.
Tooth-Colored Brackets
What if you need to wear metal braces? If so, we can still take steps to help reduce the visibility of these orthodontics. Instead of using metal brackets attached to the front facing sides of the teeth, we will create them from ceramic. Not only is ceramic strong and durable, but the material can be shaded to blend with the teeth. After we attach the brackets, we connect them with a thin arch wire. By adjusting tension, we begin repositioning the teeth, offering optimal results in 18 months to 2 years. The tooth-colored brackets blend with the smile and significantly reduce the visibility of your metal orthodontics.
Getting Started
Correcting your poor alignment could reduce the risk of tooth decay and gum disease, and also the chances of TMJ disorder and teeth grinding (bruxism). This not only improves the appearance of your smile, but the overall health as well. To begin, schedule an appointment with our team. We will discuss your smile goals and carefully examine your teeth with digital technology. We can peer below the gums and create an accurate and precise picture of your smile’s health and alignment. Our team can then choose the best option for correcting misalignment, and begin the treatment process.
