Made from clear, BPA-free acrylic, Invisalign® aligners offer our Fort Worth, TX, patients access to even, straight smiles without the need for braces. In order to create these comfortable and barely noticeable aligners, we employ advanced digital imaging technology. How do we create custom orthodontics with iTero®?
Creating Custom Orthodontics with Digital Technology
First, we need to assess the severity of misalignment, which helps us decide whether clear aligners re the right choice for you. If so, we will use the iTero® system to take a series of detailed digital images of your teeth and oral structures. We combine the images to make a 3D model of your smile. The digital impressions and measurements enable our team to begin designing and creating your aligners from a BPA-free clear acrylic material. Each set will be custom-made specifically for you, which ensures a comfortable fit and treatment with precision and accuracy.
The Invisalign® System
Treatment begins with the patient wearing a set for between 20 and 22 hours every day. After around two weeks, the patient moves on to the next set in the series. The aligner begins to gradually and carefully reposition your teeth, correcting misalignment and helping you enjoy a much healthier and attractive smile. The total treatment time will depend on the cause and extent of your misalignment, but usually falls to about a year for adults and up to 18 months for teens. The aligners can be removed prior to eating or before brushing and flossing, which offers convenience and comfort. In fact, as long a you wear them for the amount of time the dentist recommends, you can take them out before special occasions as well!
Don’t Risk Misalignment!
Misalignment is not just a cosmetic issue. In fact, poor alignment could provide hiding place for food particles to become trapped. Even brushing and flossing could fail to dislodge them, allowing bacteria to break down these particles in a process that elevates the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. The pressure on the jaw joints from uneven teeth has also led to TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding) for some patients as well.
