When we see our Fort Worth, TX, patients, we strive to offer them a comfortable experience in our office, and also want to ensure they enjoy streamlined treatment. To shorten treatment times and offer a cosmetic approach to orthodontics that limits discomfort, we implement digital technology. How does iTero® digital scanning and i-Cat technology help correct misalignment?
The Benefits of Braces and Clear Aligners
Whether you need braces with ceramic brackets, or clear braces with the Invisalign® system, correcting misalignment means improving your oral health. A straighter smile helps improve your smile’s alignment, limiting the risk of tooth decay, gum disease, TMJ disorder, bruxism, and more. You also obtain a more beautiful smile, one you can feel proud to show off to the world. To aid in the treatment process, we often implement advanced technology.
The iTero® System
At one time, the process of designing custom orthodontics meant patients needed to have physical impressions taken. They would need to bite down on a mold filled with a sticky material, that despite the “flavors” never tasted very good. Sometimes the process would need to be repeated. However, we now offer an advanced alternative, one that needs no trays and molds. Using a digital camera at the end of a wand, we can take a series of detailed digital images of your smile in a matter of minutes. We combine these images to craft a detailed 3D computer model of your teeth, gums, and oral structures. No gooey mess, just an incredibly accurate and precise means of gathering impressions. We then use the information gathered to create clear aligners, tooth-colored brackets, oral appliances for TMJ therapy, and even retainers.
i-Cat Technology
While iTero® offers the means of designing specific oral appliances and orthodontics, i-CAT computerized tomography enables our team to plan the treatment process and obtain detailed information for an accurate diagnosis. We employ the system to gather detailed mages of the smile quickly, using these detailed images to accurately assess the cause and extent of your misalignment, as well as the presence of other oral health concerns. We can then plan your treatment and select the best options for treating misalignment, TMJ disorder, and other issues. If you have any questions about the advanced technology we provide our patients, or if you’re ready to schedule a visit for you or a member of your family, then contact our team today.
