How Do Clear Aligners Treat Misalignment?
First, let’s talk a little about the Invisalign® system. The aligners, made from a clear and BPA-free acrylic material, will be worn daily for around 20 to 22 hours. They help gradually move the teeth into optimal positions. Around every two weeks, we will move on to the next set in the series, which continues to help the patient obtain an even smile. Total treatment takes about a year for most patients, or up to 18 months for others, depending on the cause and extent of the misalignment. They can be removed before meals or brushing and flossing, offering patients a much easier treatment experience when compared to other orthodontic options.
Creating Them With iTero®
With iTero®, we take a series of digital images of the smile. The process is quick and comfortable, taking only a few minutes. Once we obtain these detailed images, we combine them to create a unique 3D model of your smile. The 3D model and the measurements we take will be used in an Invisalign® lab to create the aligners. Each set is custom-made specifically for your smile, which ensures a comfortable fit and proper treatment with precision and accuracy. There is no one-size-fits-all option with Invisalign®, so the use of digital technology helps ensure optimal treatment and a straighter smile.
