How Do We Create Tooth-Colored Brackets?

Clear aligners may not be a person’s best choice for correcting misalignment. In these situations, we may instead recommend braces. To ensure these braces remain barely noticeable, we may create tooth-colored brackets made from a metal-free material. How do we create these tooth-colored brackets and what should our Fort Worth, TX, patients expect from braces?

Designing Your Orthodontics

In order to plan your treatment, we need to understand the cause and severity of your misalignment. Using iTero®, digital x-rays, and intraoral cameras, we will gather detailed images of your gums, teeth, jaw, and oral structures. These images enable us to capture a detailed picture of your overall oral health and better understand your misalignment. We also use the images gathered to show patients how their smile might look after treatment, and to plan the fabrication of custom orthodontics. We also have the ability to walk you through the process and clearly explain what’s happening with your smile.

The Ceramic Difference

With traditional braces, we place a bracket onto the front facing side of the teeth. We connect these brackets with an arch wire, then adjust the tension during periodic visits to reposition the teeth and correct misalignment. However, people are often hesitant to undergo treatment due the appearance of metal braces. To limit this, we create our brackets from ceramic instead of metal. Strong and durable material, we can actually shade ceramic to match the color of your teeth. We then connect the metal arch wire, which is thin and barely visible. Our teen and adult patients then enjoy orthodontics that are barely visible!

The Benefits of Braces

What benefits will correcting misalignment offer? Well, by correcting the alignment of your smile, they help improve your overall health, as well as the appearance of your smile. For example, did you know that poor alignment often makes thorough brushing and flossing difficult? Over time, this means a greater risk of tooth decay, gingivitis and even gum disease. Likewise, poor alignment also puts pressure on your jaw and increases the risk of TMJ disorder and bruxism, causing headaches and potentially damaging your teeth. When you see us for orthodontic treatment, we help you improve the appearance of your teeth and by correcting alignment, we also have a positive impact on your oral and overall health as well.
