With the new year here, many people are looking to make big changes. For Fort Worth, TX, patients interested in straighter smiles, we have a cosmetic solution with invisible aligners. How does the Invisalign® system work?
How Does Invisalign Work?
With traditional metal braces, we place a bracket onto the front of your teeth. We connect these brackets with a metal arch wire and then adjust tension periodically to improve the alignment of your smile. While effective, few teens and adults are excited by the prospect of metal orthodontics and the impact they can have on their professional appearance. Fortunately, Invisalign® doesn’t employ these brackets and wires. Instead, we create a series of custom-made aligners from a BPA-free plastic material. The patients wear a set every day for about 20 to 22 hours, upgrading the next set after two weeks. Gradually, they correct your smile’s appearance.
The Benefits of Clear Aligners
First, they are clear and barely visible when worn. Next, the treatment time is typically shorter than the time required for braces. Patients also have the option of removing them at meal time, which means they don’t have to avoid certain foods that would otherwise become stuck in metal orthodontics. Being removable means brushing and flossing is much easier as well. Patients also don’t worry about the gum and cheek irritation often experienced with metal orthodontics.
Enjoy a Straighter Smile
Correcting misalignment doesn’t just improve your smile’s appearance. Addressing your uneven smile limits the risk of TMJ disorder and bruxism, while also decreasing the likelihood of tooth decay and gum disease developing. You can enjoy a healthier overall smile, as well as a smile you’ll be eager to show off to the world. If you have any questions about our invisible aligners, then contact our team today.
