We understand your appearance means a lot to you, and don’t want your concerns about braces to prevent you from undergoing treatment to enjoy a more even and healthy smile. To help our patients in Fort Worth, TX, our team offers tooth-colored brackets to ensure less visible braces.
Why Do We Need Braces?
Having crowded or crooked teeth isn’t just a cosmetic issue. In fact, uneven teeth actually provide hiding places for food particles to become trapped. Even when people with misalignment brush and floss, they may not reach these trapped food particles, leading to a greater risk of tooth decay and gum disease. For some, misalignment also places pressure on the jaw joints. Overtime, this pressure could lead to the onset of TMJ disorder and bruxism, causing a host of uncomfortable symptoms. We need to correct misalignment in order to enjoy a heathier smile, as well as a more attractive one.
Traditionally, orthodontics involves placing metal brackets onto the front facing sides of the teeth. We then connect them with a metal arch wire, adjusting tension to reposition the teeth. However, to help reduce the visibility of metal braces, we may instead create custom-made and lifelike ceramic brackets. These will be designed to blend with the smile, mimicking the shade and tint of your teeth. As a result, your orthodontics will show less metal and more of your natural teeth!
We typically recommend the brackets and wires to address more serious cases of misalignment. If you require more comprehensive treatment to correct your smile, then our ceramic braces offer a way to achieve this without impacting your appearance the way traditional orthodontics would.
Other Cosmetic Alternatives
If you have more minor cases of misalignment, then we may have another cosmetic option: Invisalign®. For some, these clear plastic aligners will offer smile correction without any metal orthodontics. However, in order to prescribe them we will need to assess the cause and severity of your misalignment. Other factors, such as age, will also be taken into account. If you have an uneven smile and would like to learn more about correcting the issue, then contact our team today. We will use advanced technology to carefully examine your teeth, gums, and jaw. From there, we can decide whether you would benefit from orthodontics with ceramic, tooth-colored brackets or clear Invisalign® aligners. If you have any questions, or if you’re ready to schedule that visit, then please contact our team today.
