We need to know the cause and severity of misalignment. We also take age and overall oral health into account. Those with severe misalignment may still benefit from traditional braces, although we can use ceramic brackets to make them less visible. However, many teens and adults will qualify for the Invisalign® system.

Question: How do you create them?

Answer: We first need to create a detailed digital impression of the smile, which we will accomplish with the iTero system. A tiny camera on the end of a wand allows our team to gather multiple detailed images of your teeth and alignment in just a few minutes. Using these images, we create a 3D model of your smile, which will be used in a lab setting to design and create your aligners. Not only will they fit comfortably, but they will be designed to reposition your teeth in the timeframe discussed with your Fort Worth orthodontist.

Question: Can they be removed?

Answer: Yes! The aligners are not fixed in place with metal brackets or wires. As a result, the patient can remove the aligners before meals or prior to brushing and flossing. Patients then don’t have to avoid certain foods or change their diet, and caring for their smile during treatment is much easier, improving overall oral health.

Question: How long does treatment last?

Answer: That will depend on a number of factors, such as the patient’s age or the severity of misalignment. Younger patients, with smiles that are still growing and developing, may need up to 18 months, while adults usually require only a year.
