The 2018 State Fair Is Here!

The 2018 State Fair Is Here! Opening weekend of the 2018 State Fair of Texas is already in the books. If you are planning on making the short drive to Dallas from Fort Worth, TX, then you should know some fun facts about the fair! Last year, there were over 2.5 million visitors to the fair. This year, the crowds are expected to be about the same. The fair lasts for 24 days with fun rides, special events, live music, and of course, plenty of fried food. To save some money this year, go to the fair on Thursdays for Thrifty Thursdays, where there will be discounted prices on corny dogs, funnel cakes, cotton candy, and some vendors will offer mini items of their signature items.

Parking at the Fair

There is official parking at the fairgrounds, but it tends to fill up rather quickly. Be mindful of some lots and be sure to check the signage. There have been known to be people pretending to represent a lot that may actually tow your car. You can take the green line on the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) line to the fair, which will take you right to the fair’s entrance. There are also plenty of park-and-ride locations, where you can drive to and then take the green line.

Special Events

This year’s live music is full of fantastic acts. Some of the good shows will include Austin Mahone on October 7th, the Molly Ringwalds on October 12th, Ludacris on October 13th, Bidi Bidi Banda on October 19th, and Casting Crowns on October 20th. The State Fair of Texas always has a special theme, and the theme of 2018 is Celebrating Texas Innovation. The focus will be on the innovation, inventions, and technology that Texans have provided to the world throughout history along with highlighting current and future innovations to come.
