Invisalign® is an orthodontic treatment designed to realign your smile in a discreet way. The treatment involves a system of clear aligners that gently position your teeth into proper alignment. Straightening your teeth may seem like something only having to do with your appearance. However, straightening your smile is also quite beneficial to your oral health. A straighter smile is at a smaller risk for tooth decay, gum disease, TMJ disorder, tooth damage, and more. If you are in Fort Worth, Texas and considering Invisalign® treatment, talk to the team at Lake Country Orthodontics.
Q: How Do I Know If I Qualify?
The most likely candidates for Invisalign® treatment are people with mild to moderate alignment issues. Your orthodontist can examine your smile to determine your needs using digital imaging technology, iTero. The technology can also be used to create your treatment plan if it is determined that Invisalign® is right for you and your smile.
Q: Do I Wear It Everyday?
Invisalign® aligners do need to be worn at least 22 hours a day for effective treatment. Throughout the day, however, you can (and should) remove the aligners to eat, drink, brush, floss, etc. You can control when you wear them as long as you wear them for the effective amount of time. Not wearing the aligners enough can mean a longer treatment time. The aligners are clear, so they are not very noticeable in person and hardly visible in photos, which means that you can wear them throughout your daily life.
Q: How Do the Aligners Work?
The aligners are custom-created for your smile’s needs. Each set of aligners is worn for a few weeks before moving onto the next set. Each step of the treatment creates incremental, gradual changes to your smile’s alignment by gently nudging your teeth into the proper position.
